Paragrah Styles default to Variation C of Character Styles

Post by chriggi »

Recently, I noticed that in my thesis document all paragraph style use as default Variation C of the respective associated character style. That is rather cumbersome, and I can't find a way to change it. Any ideas?

More details:
# When I select a paragraph style it always comes with Variation C of the espective associated character style
# When I select a character style directly everyhing is fine, it defaults to the "Basis" Variation.
# New Document do not show this behaviour.

I can't find a way to change this, the variations are present in the edit pane of paragr. styles. Any idea and help welcome.

Perhaps you could submit a sample? Just to show how your styles are disposed and what your C variant is (italics?). I suspect that you have defined your par-style somehow with character style with C as default, but I cannot really understand what happens. Perhaps something to do with changing versions of Mellel? Sorry, this is not really helpful, but give us a sample where it goes wrong.

Thanks, Bulow. Don't know why but the problem has vanished… Strange.

When you apply a paragraph or character style, Mellel will not clear the variation but rathe map it to the corresponding variation in the new style.
It is likely that the text you were applying the paragraph style to was already assigned to a variation.
