RTL Style problem

I'm running Mellel 3.2.7b2. I have a style I've created called "Hebrew" which has an associated character style also called "Hebrew". Although I have the style set up to be RTL formatted, when I apply the style the text never changes to right-to-left. I always have to manually change it. Any suggestions as to what may be going on, or how I might be able to fix this?
