Exporting Mellel styles

If I have some user-created styles in a particular document, how do I get those styles (paragraph and character styles) available for use in new documents?

Styles>Edit style set

Then in the "style set" box: duplicate your current set, give it a name and click "make style set global" (at the bottom).

You can then apply this set of styles by clicking the "styles" menu in new documents.
