Hi,
There is some bug in the tracking and/or export module. It can be easily reproduced:
1. enter some text with a Bookends citation
2. turn on live bibliography or scan bibliography
3. turn on tracking
4. delete the text and citation
5. enter some text with another Bookends citation
6. export to Word
In Mellel the removed citation and its reference are hidden when display mode "Final" is turned on, but in Word the removed citation AND its reference are still visible.

Maybe the bug is in the citation module: if you rescan bibliography with tracking turned on, Mellel adds references also for deleted, but still visible citations, see below:
