Underline of small text (<=14pt) is too bold and sticky

Post by rolfheinrich »

Please compare the following text viewed in Safari, "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.", with the same writing and style (Lucida Grande 13) in Mellel.

In Mellel the underline is too bold and it sticks too close to the bottom line of the characters. Up to a font size of 14 pt there doesn't even seem to be a space between the underline and the text. Starting at 16 pt, there appears a tiny little space. For me, underlined text with font sizes below 16 pt does look strange in Mellel to say the least. Unfortunately, this strange look is exported also into PDF files, and underlined text looks also strange to people who receive my writings as PDF.

Please may I ask to either correct this or perhaps even better to add a feature for adjusting the space between the underline and the text.

Best regards

Rolf
