Mellel-Sente connection broken

Post by BillBlattner »

Recently, the connection between Mellel and Sente has broken on my computer.

What I have observed:
  1. This problem affects only new documents, not editing old documents (that already have citations in them).
  2. When I click the "cite" button in Sente, I'm sent back to Mellel, but nothing is inserted.
  3. None of the buttons in Mellel's Bibliography palette do anything.
  4. If I try to type in a Sente reference manually (e.g., "{Jones 2016}") and then click the Refresh Citation List or Scan Document buttons in Mellel, nothing happens.
  5. The Scan button in Sente likewise does nothing.
What I have tried:
  • Several different Mellel documents. The only pattern I noticed was (1) above.
  • Updating everything.
  • Writing support at Third Street Software (the makers of Sente). I got an auto-reply but nothing further. (Very disappointed with them not even to try.)
My system:
  • Mac Mini 7,1
  • OS X El Capitan 10.11.3
  • Mellel 3.4.4b8
  • Sente 6.7.8
Right now my workflow is completely broken, and I don't know what to do. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Anyone know a fix?

I have tested with a new document and had no problems with the connection Mellel-Sente. It seems to function as expected on my Macbook pro.

MacBook Pro (Retina, middle 2012)
OS X El Capitan 10.11.3
Mellel 3.4.4b8
Sente 6.7.9

Hi again

You should try to update to the latest version of Sente (see my specifications).

Thanks! It's working now. I had double-checked to confirm I had the latest version of Sente. Not sure how I made that mistake. Thanks again!
