Mellel generating errors in citations

Post by annabelle »

Dear Mellel,
In my book manuscript something has gone wrong with some citations, that are randomly adding authors names after the date, e.g. " (Brezina, McEnery, & Wattam, 2015Brezina, McEnery, & Wattam)". This started to happen about 10 days ago. I have been in touch with Jon at Bookends, who assures me the problem is not with Bookends. I have some urgent timelines on a couple of chapters - can you advise me how to sort this out? The error is NOT in the information entered in the Bookends database (ie this particular example is properly entered into Bookends, and up until recently appeared as it should). It seems something has corrupted. Can you give me some advice on how to fix this? I'm on OS 10.11.4.
Kind regards
Annabelle

To be clear, after scanning, the final citations you're getting have this wrong format?
Do all citations get this? If not, is it the same citations with each scan or does it happen randomly (try scanning, noting which citations get bad and then un-scan and scan again, do the same citations get bad the second time?)

Thanks so much for the reply.

Not all citations have this problem. And the same entry appears quite normal, and then it turns up with this odd format. I studied one section of my manuscript, and identified the improperly scanned citations. Then I unscanned and re-scanned - and the ones that were wrong before turned up wrong again.

What do you suggest?

Kind regards

I think it would be best if you sent me the file, along with the bookends database and also point me to the bad citations. Send me in an email to eyal at mellel dot com
