Thank you for "Background (on screen)"

Post by c_szabo »

Dear Mellel developers,

Thanks for:

File ---> Document Setup ---> Background (on screen)

This option saves my eyes from the otherwise blazing white page background, especially in fullscreen/distraction-free mode with 2-up.

I selected a nice, light grey, and it's much more comfy.

I'd ask for "themes" related to this (a dark mode, too) in Mellel 4, but seeing as this is a WYSIWYG word processor, mixing paradigms might cause confusion.

I wouldn't mind a "Text Colour (on screen)" option, though.

Cheers,

Christian.

I've also set up a document that I consider beautiful, and easy on the eyes.

I have a large monitor and work well into the night, so the cool blue background really helps minimize eye strain.

Wish we could post images of our favorite documents.

Interesting

I also work late at night and will give this a try.

In it's "Night Shift" option, Apple suggest that warmer colors are better at night, so I'm trying out a pale yellow-blue

In File -> Document Setup -> Background (on screen) use the Color sliders with the RGB Sliders to reveal the color's exact value. You may have to use the pipette to pick up the color. Then post the three numbers here, so that other forum members can see what "cool blue background" you are talking about.

As I said, I'm just starting to paly with this, but so for the combinations I like are

-- pale green: 225/255/235

-- light lavender: 225/220/255

-- pale yellow/orange: 255/240/210

Janet

P.S. I also use background colors on my major Finder folders. That way I know which ones are open at a glance.
[with the folder in icon view, right-click on some empty space, select view options, then background color]

I set up my Default document in Preferences>General tab.
There I set the following for my default document background. It’s kind of a light blue-green:
R - 163
G - 231
B - 235

----
My fullscreen background settings are:
R - 31
G - 115
B - 130

----
My choice for Hyperling Colour is a dark red:
R - 156
G - 2
B - 32
###

There is also a darker blue-green I like and use in some other apps, and may use with Mellel, for the doc background:
R - 152
G - 222
B - 227
###

I like Jannuss’ information about the “Night Shift” option, too.

And Janet, I hope you’ll post the pale yellow-blue settings you like the most. Or, any others you find easy on the eyes.

I work sometimes until 2 or 3 am, and the only light comes from my monitor. So ANY color background is better than white for the document background. Lol...

###

I hope someone else will find these settings helpful. It’d be great to hear what settings others are using, too.
