We've just released Mellel 4.1.2 which contains a much improved and deep digging "Replace Styles" functionality, you should be able now to see all occurrences of "diamond styles" and eliminate them.

I agree with earlier posts (need a nice search feature). However, the problem is larger. The diamonds are very disconcerting. Eyal nicely points out that we could just ignore them and get on with life, but for some of us (I suspect many of those who are obsessive enough to use Mellel rather than the more ubiquitous Word), those glaring diamonds mean that something is wrong, wrong, wrong. Thus, we feel the need to fix things. That's not irrational because we don't really know when the problem might bite us. And, as previous messages point out, it's a pain in the neck to do all the corrections.

Would it not be better to rethink some basic aspects of design here. Suppose one has a document that has been prepared in a particular style and one begins to edit it. Should there be up-front choices urged by popups, such as:

-- The style set has changed. Do you want to implement those changes in this document?
-- Do you want to make the style set global before using it?
-- Or whatever. The idea would be to head off every getting diamonds.
