App Store or Mellel Website Version

Dear All

I am new to Mellel and have already spent hours on learning how to set up styles, auto-titles etc. I purchased through the Mellel website. My question is whether there is any advantage in also purchasing the App Store version. For instance I am having issues with my Style Sets not appearing globally. Nor my custom templates. Doe anybody using the App Store Version have these issues?

Thanks

Matt

I have no reasons to think it has something to do with the fact you bought it via the Mellel website. The main difference, for a long time, was the ability to use iCloud when you bought an app from Apple. But they have since removed this limitation.

For your specific issue, I'm sorry, but I'm no help.

Thank you, that's good to know. I have also managed to resolve my Global Styles issue by opening a document with the style I wanted to be global on another computer and from there i was able to make it global. For some reason the 'global' button was greyed out on the other machine and I have seen others have talked about this here. Thanks for your response. Matt

Hi Matt,
The issues your've having will not be made better by purchasing Mellel on the App Store.
I can't think of any reason for anyone to purchase both the App Store version and the website version. There is no real functional difference difference between the two.
Regarding globalisation of style sets, if you choose Styles->Edit Style set, choose the style set and then click the globe, the style set will become global, if the globe is dimmed, then this is likely because the style set is already global (to check, open the styles menu, if the style set name appears in the second section of the menu, it is a global style, if it appears in the third section, below the separator, it is a document set.
It sounds to me like you're thinking about global sets is in terms of having the set be available on all of your computers but this is not the meaning of "global" in Mellel (perhaps it should be, and maybe it will be, but not at the moment). The style set is global on this particular computer and you will need to transfer it manually if you want it to be available on another computer.
