Thoughts about Replace Styles

I've been finding the Replace Styles feature a little bit difficult to use - I wonder if anyone else has the same experience?

Specifically, I used this feature recently to globally change the fonts I am using throughout my document. For the most part, this worked smoothly, but the old fonts still show up as variations in "Used Styles". I've begun to suspect that "Used Styles" refers to styles that were used at some point in the history of the document and not to the actual styles present at that moment in time. There are also multiple variations of the same style to reflect variables such as whether language is selected that I don't seem to be able to eliminate by using Replace Styles. As I mentioned in another thread, the + styles seem to interfere with the smooth working of Bookends citations.

One thing I would find really useful would be the ability to eliminate all deviations from the defined styles from my document (i.e. globally change all + variations on styles to the defined version).

"Used styles" referrers to styles that are used within the document. As long as there is some text that is applied with that style, it will appear in the replace styles dialog, otherwise it will not.
