Mellel iOS: New document not possible

Latest iOS version, iPad Pro, iCloud activated, Mellel on MacOS active (since version 1).
I can use Mellel on the iPad when I open an existing document on iCloud or on the iPad. But it is impossible to create a new document. A touch on the menu item leads to nothing. This is not new, I suffer (quietly) from that behavior for months. Deleting and re-installing the app: same. Perhaps you could address this issue.
