Hello,
I wish Mellel would have the following possibility:
In some Apple applications, for instance Mail.app when one start to write the writing directions are determined by the language chosen. If Hebrew is started to be written the direction is automatically R2L. If English is the language the writing[g direction is L2R.
Would this be possible in Mellel?

Re: writing direction
I'm not entirely sure that would be a good idea.
First, I have a lot of complaints about the way Mail mixes R2L and L2R text.
Second, I often need to start a R2L or L2R document with text in the opposite direction. For example, a Biblical quote in Hebrew followed by a discussion in English.
Finally, if Mellel does this, there would be the question at what level to apply it: at the start of a document? a section? a sub-section? etc.

Thanks Janet,
I think that if this would be applied at the beginning of the file it will be very useful for me.
I have no complaints to Mail

Re: writing direction
And, one more thought, Raymond: when you open a new document from a template, it has a defined direction.
File/Document Setup/Binding Direction.
I have templates defined for English documents (binding direction L2R) and for Hebrew documents (R2L).
There is no need for Mellel to "sense" the direction I want because I have already defined it.

Re: writing direction
Here's a strange thing on writing direction: if I set a writing direction as part of a paragraph style, it has no effect. It only seems to work from the paragraph Attributes tab.
Re: writing direction
Wow
You are correct -- I never noticed that before -- I'd say this is a bug.
