Is it possible to search for document variables in a document?

I inserted a document variable into a very long document, then saved and closed it. I then later realized that I might have inserted the variable at a wrong place, but I'm having a hard time finding the location where I inserted it because I'm not the author and thus not yet familiar with the content.
Generally speaking, it seems the Find box can neither find a document variable nor the content of a variable.
Is there something wrong with my copy of Mellel 4.1.4? Or is this a known limitation of the Find box?
Is there a way to jump from one document variable to another variable?
