Is there a way to replace paragraph styles?

I am editing numerous essays which I'm receiving as .docx files. I am combining them and compiling the document in Mellel. I want to use my Style Set in Mellel. Applying the style set isn't conforming the essays to the style set.

Is there a way to find and replace paragraph styles in a document? Currently, I'm having to go into every paragraph and footnote and changing it to the paragraph style.

Thanks

Have you tried File –> "Replace Styles…" ?

Ah, there it is! Thanks so much. I was searching the guide for "replace paragraph styles" and wasn't finding anything.

I have been doing the sort of thing you mention for 20 years and I still have to change the format of each paragraph manually. Change styles works fine, but you cannot know which style you are changing, since all styles in the imported docx file are anonymous. And you have to go over the text to re-establish suprascripts (other than note references), small caps and whatever else Mellel considers enhancements.

Oh, that’s most unfortunate. Guess I’ll keep going paragraph by paragraph.....
