I recently realized that the spell checking function, which I have set to "check spelling as you type" does not recognize any words as incorrect when I have the language set to English. If, under the "spelling. . ." menu option I change the language to, say, French, the checker properly recognizes the French words as correct and the English words as incorrect. However, when I switch it back to English, every word becomes correct (including the French words and words like "sdkjfsd").
Interestingly, I just checked to see if the spelling works in the mail application and it does not. So, the good news is that it is not exclusively a mellel problem.
How can I fix this?
Thanks,
Ben

What's the problem with "sdkjfsd"?
First of all, try restarting your computer.
If that doesn't help, try removing the files inside ~/Library/Spelling/ folder.
