Zip version of tutorial

Post by William Nicholls »

The zipped Mellel Tutorial for beginners appears to be damaged. It will not unstuff successfully, I always get an error message, whether it is in pdf or Mellel format.

Are you using the latest version of StuffitExpander? I am and always get a warning message when a download commences. In the end, there's no issue with the actual .zip file, just StuffitExpander.

Perhaps there is another issue affecting your downloads, however.

I would recommend switching to the Apple provided solution for unzipping. How? Get the info dialog for a .zip archive (either via the context menu, the file menu or by hitting Apple+I) and in the "Open with:" section of the info palette switch from StuffIt to the so-called "BOMArchive Helper" (not sure if I spelled this correctly).

I would recommend also clicking the "Change All…" button so that Apple’s system service (the small app that is called BOM Archive Helper") takes control for all .zip files. Only use StuffIt for .sit or .sitx archives. In all other cases it is, sadly, not too reliable…
