Undo in footnotes does not work properly

I work on a quite large document (400 p.) with many footnotes (1300). Sometimes when using the undo function while writing in footnotes the undo command does not seem to work correctly and the text just stays as it has been before hitting undo. Only when typing somewhere into the footnotes one sees that the command has been executed.
