How to import rtf direct in the Mellelfile I am working with

Hello,

I am converting a lot of Framemaker 6 files , which work under OS 9, to Mellel because I must leave OS9. A book file in Framemaker contains a number of files e.g. the chapters of the book.
In Mellel all the chapters are combined in one document. OK sofar.

When I import a file in Mellel it is always opens in a new document. It would speed my work up, if I could import a text or Word file direct in the Mellel file that I use to combine all the previous separate Framemaker files.

Can that be done? Can anybody tell me how to do that?
