Could the Auto title palette be consistent with the Styles palettes? It would be helpful to select in an auto title and see its level highlighted in the palette.

As a wider request ... I would love to see an interface refresh and have Mellel embrace the true style of OS X, instead of its haphazard implementation of Apple's HIG. And, better consistency throughout.

In the process of adding a reference to an Auto title, for me a major bottleneck is finding the target in the Edit Reference panel. I have a LOT of Auto titles in my document. It would be great to pick the target from the Outline sidebar instead, as this is where I can see the real structure of the document.

Agreed. Finding the right autotitle target for a reference can be a challenge. Dragging from the outline pane would be one method; having the reference creation pane display similar to the outline display would be another.

Yes, this is something planned.

And this too. Mellel does seem a bit inconsistent and tattered at the seams.

Great to read that you will look into these UI things! This will surely be a big help to newcomers in particular, and ease the workflow for all of us
