Problem with OT-feature curs

Post by jath »

It seems to me that Mellel does not render correctly fonts with OT-feature "cursive positioning" (curs). This feature is used in a number of Arabic/Persian fonts (e.g. Sakkal's "Arabic Typesetting" or the free "Nafees Nastaleeq" font) in order to adjust some characters horizontally when combined with other characters so that the exit point of a character matches with the entry point of the following character. In Mellel the horizontally adjusted characters are lowered below the baseline (instead of being raised above the baseline). As a result, the last caracter of a word (or of a sequence of combined characters) - which is correctly positioned on the baseline - does not mach with the preceding characters.
Is there a way to fix this problem?

This looks like a bug or an unsupported OT feature. Please contact us directly (support@redlers.com) for further investigation.
