Problem with bookends and journal articles

Post by kcjimmyk »

Formatting of journal articles citations is not getting to Mellel correctly. Note: I sent the problem to sonnysoftware support and was told it is a problem in Mellel. Anyone else having this problem or have I done something wrong? I have Mellel Preferences set to not change formatted text from bibliography program. And the citation appears correctly in the preview box of bookends.

Here is a screen shot of the problem: Notice the Bibl in Bibliotheca is not formatted (italic)

Just noticed that the same thing is happening with book citations

E.g. (the Wo in Word is not italicized)

I can confirm that effect.

To be a little more precise, here in my document the italicisation of the book chapter moves three characters to the right and thus affects the data that follows and that should not be italicized.

Yes, mine is sometimes moving four characters to the right and sometimes two characters.

Can anyone think of a work-around? This is very frustrating.

C'mon, doesn't anyone cite journal articles? All I need is a workaround.

For my part, I generate only a bibliography at the end of the document. I don't remember to have had big trouble, if any! ; )

The bibliography works fine, it's the footnoted citations that don't.

I have the same problem. It doesn't only happen with journal articles, though. Books also suffer from it sometimes (never on secondary citations, though).

The problem seems to have been with Bookends (although they told me it was with Mellel). Their latest release seems to have fixed it.
