I hesitate to ask this, since it may be that controlling the appearance of the insertion point is at the system rather than application level, but I don't think it is. As you know, there is a difference between the cursor (sometimes called the "pointer") and the insertion point. The latter is what is left in place after you have used the pointer to click in a document. I know how to increase the size and therefore visibility of the pointer/cursor. But I do not find a way within Mellel prefs to make the thin vertical line called the insertion point easier to see. Does anyone know how to do this? I would be most grateful for your help.

Yes, Mellel does control the size of the line at the insertion point. However, there is no way to resize it.
