Dear folks,
Does anyone have an idea as to how I could set a tab between the footnote character and the following text so that the space remains the same between the character and the text even if the footnote number has more digits? In other words, if my footnote character is a one-digit number, the space is, say, x, if it's a two-digit number, the space is x-1, if it's a three-digit number, the space is x-2. The space shrinks as the number of digit in the footnote character increases. Is there a way around this (other than doing it manually, which I would like to avoid as much as possible)?
Many thanks,
Pete Malik

Re: Footnote character (tabs, etc.)
Can you just set the indent/tab on the ruler, then save changes to your footnote paragraph style?
(In Insert>note>edit note attributes you can set note format to "#. + Tab")

Re: Footnote character (tabs, etc.)
Dear vinesy,
Thanks for this. I don't know how to set the indent/tab on my ruler, but I did use the option in "edit note attributes" and the effect is the same, namely, that the space between the footnote character decreases as the number of digits in the footnote character increases.
