Auto-title Find and Replace?

Post by farcas »

Mellel is great - its auto-tiles are amazing.

But what about incorporating auto-titles into the find and replace? This would be huge. Maybe it can already be done, but I can't make it happen.

Thanks!

The reason for wanting to incorporate find and replace into auto titles is so that I can automate them. But what about another salutation: OMPL? If I could find and replace certain markers around auto-titles to create the necessary language needed for OMPL, then I could create an OMPL text file and import it into Mellel and all the auto-titles would already be there.

Does this make sense? Can anyone point me in the direction of basic instructions for OMPL? I tried looking at a file I exported from Mellel but couldn't make sense of it.

Thanks!

Melle will export an outline (and therefore, Auto-Titles) to OPML. Does Mellel not import OPML?

If that's the case, then I suppose the topic is closed, right? If you wanted to import your Auto-Titles via OPML, and Mellel does this ...

I tried to import OPML, but Mellel quits unexpectedly every time.

I would still like to see a find and replace incorporate auto-titles.

A work around....off topic from Mellel features directly...how would one create an OPML file from something like Markdown? App suggestions? Or Find and Replace in Mellel? All welcome!

Thanks!

In Markdown, you would do something like:

Code: Select all

# Heading 1

## Subheading 1.1

## Subheading 1.2

# Heading 2

## Subheading 2.1

### Sub-subheading 2.1.1
There are perl scripts to translate MD to OPML. I personally use MultiMarkdown, which includes additional features.

Thanks! I found a free app called Texts http://www.texts.io

Does MultiMarkdown have the ability to import OPML? Then convert it to MD?

MultiMarkdown only takes MMD documents as input, then exports those. However, there are XSLT files included to present the OPML as Markdown. To render those as text, you would need to run them through an XSLT translator.

Thanks. I'll check it out.
