I use long footnotes which create large holes in the main text. Even though I checked that footnotes could be divided anywhere within.
What I look for is a way to avoid those holes and spread one long footnote over two (or three) pages.
There must be a setting to either reduce the maximum size of a footnote or (even better) divide it individually.
Or is there?

Re: dividing footnotes?
Meanwhile I found out how my problem (holes in the main text because of undivided footnotes) occurs.
Usually footnotes are divided as they should be. My problem occurs when the footnote is attached to a headline.
When I place the asterisk not at the end of the headline but at the beginning of the following line in the text, the footnote will be divided.
Still not good. Any Remedies?
Cheers
