Issues with formatting of citations after scanning with Bookends

After scanning my Mellel document with Bookends, I am finding that the citations in one section of the document appear in a Character Style different to the paragraph around them (specifically, Courier Regular 12 (Base) as opposed to Body (Base) style I am using as default). Applying the default paragraph and character styles to the text before scanning does not affect the outcome. My efforts to locate relevant settings within Bookends have been unsuccessful.

The issue does not affect the entire document, but only a section that started life as a Scrivener file and was imported into Mellel.

Any pointers would be much appreciated!

Hello,
In Mellel, did you enable "Map Citation Styles" and 'Use Surrounding' in Edit > Bibliography > Bib & Cit. style Mapping… > Citations?

Thank you Icelander and Avner for these pointers. I studied the resources available regarding mapping styles in citations and bibliographies, and now have a much better understanding of how this works.

Strangely enough, the issue with those particular citations was not fully resolved by toggling these options. I was able to resolve it by:
  • Unscanning the document
  • Cutting the affected section and pasting as plain text
  • Converting text to citations
  • Re-scanning document
I had tried before to apply paragraph and character styles to this area, but this didn't seem to apply fully to the citations.
