I am familiar with how to use line numbering. However, despite selecting ignore empty lines, many empty lines (between paragraphs) are for no apparent reason still being numbered. It is particularly annoying (aesthetically) that the first empty line at the top of a page is being numbered.

Any suggestions on how to avoid this happening, please?

Update. Problem solved. I need to separate paragraphs with a manual line break (enter on keyboard). I had the auto-title settings insert a line break which was doubling up on a manual line break.
