Upgrading

Post by japp »

It would be nice if Mellel used the same background upgrading as Firefox. Upgrading is such a tedious thing.

Some people have already suggested using Sparkle to handle the upgrades, Ori promised to look into it.

Yes, Sparkle looks promising.

And I did, only it doesn't supply us with a mechanism to determine whether a user can upgrade for free or not, and we do not want this to be a surprise to users.

Maybe it would be worth trying to make a feature request to the author of Sparkle? Because otherwise Sparkle looks very cool (think of the HTML changelog with pictures!).

Speaking of upgrading...

Post by nvalvo »

I just paid my $19 or whatever to upgrade (having been using Mellel since 2004, I guess), and I was interested to know how much Mellel I just bought.

Do I get another three years for $19?

I believe - if I'm not totally mistaken - that any kind of purchase of Mellel (upgrade or not) nowadays gives you a two years of subscription, not three years as the case was before 2005 (or when this was changed).

Thanks. I suppose two years will do; maybe that should be clearer.
