Greetings,
Is there a plan to have a footnote/endnote inclusion option for word count? When you have a book with over 600 footnotes, it is really a bother to convert to rtf, then import into that abominable program called MS Word just to check on word limit. I searched for a discussion on this but could not find it, so please forgive me if this has been addressed recently.

This is possible with Mellel as of 2.1, by using the Find/Replace panel:
1. Make sure only Footnotes is ticked in the "Search inside" column at the right.
2. As the Find expression select Word boundary from the "Insert element" choices; then select Alphanumeric (double click on it to get the Repetition choices, and choose "once or more" and tick "Greedy); then select Word boundary.
3. As the Replace expression select Found expression.
4. Once you have set up this Find/Replace, click on the Save Find Action button, and name the action Count Words in Footnotes.
5. Press command-shift-f to bring up the Edit Find Set window.
6. In the list of Find Actions, in the left hand column, select "Count Words in Footnotes" and click on the Add Find Action arrow which is between the two columns.
7. Click on Save Find Set, and give it the name Count Words in Footnotes.
Now you have set all this up, after this whenever you want a count of the words in all the footnotes in a document, press command-shift-find, and click on the Load Find
