There was a post way back when about TeX export, in which it was suggested a poll should be created.

Five years later, this is that poll.

Re: Feature request: (La)TeX export
I would think that this would be a crazy feature to implement correctly. (La)TeX is more programming language than word processor, so to get all the macro definitions, style sheets, references, and other complex features available in TeX it would take a while, and for very little gain. People who use *TeX have already invested the time to learn it, so moving to an application that gives less functionality (Mellel doesn't even try to compete directly with all *TeX features) doesn't gain you much except a checkbox on a feature sheet.
Re: Feature request: (La)TeX export
I think someone made some kind of script for this long ago, no?
If not, just export to rtf, import in Open or Libre, export to LaTeX--haven't used that feature for a long time, but it used to work ok.

Re: Feature request: (La)TeX export
I would like to add (to my "no" vote), that a proper, documented XML format for Mellel files would make third-party translators easy to implement...

Re: Feature request: (La)TeX export
I'm not sure that will ever come to pass. I believe it's been over 3 years since Eyal promised documentation for Mellel's XML, and still it has yet to appear.DylanMuir wrote:I would like to add (to my "no" vote), that a proper, documented XML format for Mellel files would make third-party translators easy to implement...

I vote No.
Xml format is more important.

Re: Feature request: (La)TeX export
Also, a "No" from me -- there are too many important features on the Must Have list to give a LaTex any priority. Indexing is the one mentioned most often. For me improving sections and allowing independent column flow is critical.nigel wrote:I vote No.
