Is the empty mention bug really not fixed yet?
The issue appears if you have a mention set up in your header, but there is no content for the mention to refer to. The mention then displays <#???#> instead of nothing or hidden text. This scenario is quite common if you have for example a mention on the even pages referring to the text’s current main section, and another mention on the odd page that refers to the current subchapter. If you have a couple pages at the beginning before the first subchapter starts, then the subchapter mention will have nothing to refer to until you reach that section.
(And yes, I am – finally! – starting to embark on my next book project. So nice to set up a style of your own after struggling with countless journal requirements…)

This is not fixed. Also, this is not really bug but rather (possibly misguided) feature.
We will discuss this for changing in 3.3
The main worry here is that if you don't see anything, then you can't select or see it when you're editing the header/footer.

Re: empty mention bug still not fixed?
I understand – using some kind of "invisible" character might work. Either that or mark the area similar to the marking of citations, with a background color? I am sure you’ll find a solution. Thanks for considering this!Eyal Redler wrote:This is not fixed. Also, this is not really bug but rather (possibly misguided) feature.

The beta looks great, especially comments and the reworked Find interface and features.
Thanks.
