For the time being the only export options on the iPad are .mellel documents and PDFs.

What will be the next export option? Would like to see both export options to both .rtf .docx .opml .odt as well as plain text.

We are still gathering feedback regarding which are the most useful to our users, and based on that we can prioritize them. Which one would you say is most beneficial to you personally?

Need export option to rtf and docx. It would be great to be able to export to Google Docs and Pages as well, but their formats is a more difficult task to accomplish I believe.

I'd personally welcome docx as a priority as the main reason for exporting is collaboration.... If auto title and heading formats could be translated as well, that would be great, but I can make do with simple text formatting for now :P

I would also want the pdf files exported from within Mellel for iPad to automatically have the same name as the original document, and not as it is now having a strange name that does not indicate at all which document I have just exported as a pdf file.

My understanding was that Mellel (including Mellel 4) cannot export to .docx directly and that some features of the track-changes function, when working with Word users, depend on going through .rtf. If so, perhaps Avner's question about Mellel for the iPad is really whether we most want the export to .rtf or the export to "Word format" (i.e., .doc, not .docx). It seems to me that providing the export to .rtf would be more candid and less confusing. After all the export to .doc is really just an export to .rtf with the suffix changed to .doc. The .doc and .rtf files are the same size and, presumably, identical.

As for .docx, yes, we'd all like that. I assume, however, that achieving that is nontrivial and that it would also require updating the track-changes functionality so that it worked with .docx, not just .rtf or its .doc equivalent.

In the meantime, if is easy to generate a real .docx document from an .rtf or .doc file exported from Mellel: one merely opens it in Word and saves-as to .docx. In my experience, that greatly reduces the size of the file (e.g., from 80 MB to 10 MB in one case, as I vaguely recall). Again, however, it would probably muck up aspects of collaborating via track changes with a Word user.

Being able to export Mellel to .rtf and .doc ("work format") ate really useful. Would be great to have on the iPad as well.
Thanks!
