Re: Page Style Break Question

I don't have an answer to your question, but I am curios to know why you've chosen to work the way you have.

1. Why not use a single page style with different odd and even pages?

2. How are you going to deal with the flow of text from one page to the next?

Re: Exporting document in WORD Format

Simple in Styles/Edit Style sets -- Click on Paragraph, click the + button and give the new style a name say "STAM," click the pencil to edit it, make a change for example, set alignment to center), click on save -- continue the process for List, Section, Note, index, Table -- and finally, Page (the...

Re: Exporting document in WORD Format

I'd forgotten about the one-in-each-category business. So, just to get started, create a style called "STAM" in each category with a minimal content. Later you will want to go back and add real styles, but for now we need to focus on the page style which is most likely the cause of the problem. Also...

Re: Exporting document in WORD Format

Aha I guessed as much -- when I started using Mellel. I also ignored style sets. I defined all my character/paragraph/page parameters "ad hoc" [one-by-one, on the fly]. The difference is that I started with very short documents. By the time I got around to creating more serious stuff, I understood m...

Re: Exporting document in WORD Format

Please, Abe, have you checked all the parameters I mentioned in my previous rep;y? I'm almost certain that you will find some conflict between the page and document definitions and the page styles in use, Also, it is always best, especially with a long document, to avoid ad hoc style definitions -- ...

Re: Exporting document in WORD Format

I've never seen anything like this, but I think you should make a few basic checks 1. File/Page Setup make sure all the parameters are correct 2. Preferences/General and Preferences/Document Setup make sure all the parameters are correct 3. Styles/Edit Page Styles/Page have you defined several style...

Re: Handling images in a Hebrew document

Simplest way to solve the side-by-side issue is to use a table with one row and two columns.

Re: Handling images in a Hebrew document

Personally, I think embedding an image with a caption inside text can be awkward and confusing, but if that's the way you want to go there is a much simpler solution. Start as you describe: place the image (correctly sized) on a blank page and add the caption. Make a screen shot of the image + capti...

Re: Handling images in a Hebrew document

You are speaking of two separate things 1. Anchoring a centered image to its caption (there are several ways to do this, but I'll give you the easiest one) -- create one or two blank lines and select center alignment -- insert the image on page, select in-line. image causes wrap, and choose fourth w...

Re: Handling images in a Hebrew document

Everything you never wanted to know about Mellel images, part three In-line images Best for long documents. The image is anchored to a line of text. Usually coupled with the "image causes wrap" option [at the bottom of the image window]. For images with captions, anchor the image to the caption text...

Re: Handling images in a Hebrew document

Everything you never wanted to know about Mellel images, part two Floating images Easy to use. Best for short/one-off documents. You have total freedom in placing floating images. Sometimes, for special effect I'll move an image to the edge of the page, outside the margin limits. Another trick is to...

OK, I have the time now, so here it goes: Everything you never wanted to know about Mellel images, part one Image resolution 72-150 dpi is fine for on-line documents 150-300 best for printing. You can use the sizing option [towards the upper left of the image window] to reduce/increase the image to ...

Re: Handling images in a Hebrew document

Guys, you've caught me on a very busy day, so I'll do this quickly and add more detail later. Mellel offers two different ways of handling images: floating and in-line. Floating is the default and the simplest -- you just drop the image wherever you like and it stays there BUT as Abe discovered, the...
