Re: and on to 3.1
Yes, Janet, we have floating images, but no way to add legends (captions) to our floating images, much more urgent than tex-like placement and definitely something needed in scientific texts (time and again mentioned on this forum) And secondly, yes Dylan, live TOCs would be an immense help And thir...

Re: Mellel becoming sluggish and unresponsive
To be specific, the display cannot keep up with even a slow text keying, and sometimes goes into total inactivity. Mellel changed the file format some time ago. Mellel files are now saved in compressed form. The compressing can take a lot of time. With my book document it is most frustrating. Whene...

Thats what I said 5 years ago on this thread. We have a beautiful implementation of cross-linking now, but where is indexing??Hans-Reinhard Koch wrote:I agree wholeheartedly. BUT: More important and for me the highest priority are cross-referencing and indexing!

Re: Portrait header/footer on a landscape page?
Hi Hans, I like your work around in principle, it's not that fiddly. But how would I get a landscape auto-title in that scenario? If I inserted a title manually in the pdf, then it would appear lanscape with the table, but the numbering in the rest of the mellel doc would be messed up... Jake Now, ...

Re: Portrait header/footer on a landscape page?
There is another work-around (if you have e.g. Photoshop or Acrobate pro): Create your Landscape table in a separate Mellel doc, export it as pdf, open it in Photoshop (or Acrobate pro), rotate the page to portrait and save as tif or jpg, insert this file as a figure into you Mellel manuscript. It m...

Re: 3.0 Wish List
I would add the old evergreen suggestion of tying captions and figures together, and having "figure styles" that group both and define their layout on the page. DRM I do agree. This is the most urgently needed feature for academic writing. The nice picture placement options introduced som...

Re: request: show invisibles in the find and replace dialogue
I wholeheartedly agree. I often use "Find and Replace" to strip double or triple paragraphs or unwanted tabs. It would indeed be much nicer to see the blue invisible symbols that you see in the text also in the F&R window

Re: Mentions from another chapter
How do I prevent sub chapters «spilling over» into the next chapter’s mentions? You can't. Mellel could. I mentioned this long ago on the forum. But it seems, the Redlers have not yet got around to tackling the problem. As is, the mention looks whether the mention level has changed since the last p...

Re: Mellel 2.9 is fantastic
Yes, Mellel N.N was always phantastic and Mellel 2.9 is even better. Congratulations to the Redlers team! Still, most of us would agree that there is still room for improvement. And thank God, we have a forum where we can voice our wishes. Did you ever try to make suggestions to MS re WORD? I do not...
Re: Hello
And I would also like to see differently the "space" and "non-breaking space" in Mellel Yes, I would also appreciate this very much. And beyond that: When you write multilingual text with changing direction (e.g. English/Arabic) in one paragraph, you insert a "direction-bre...

Re: The state of the Mellel (a road map of sorts)
Yes, 2.8 is great. It never crashed on me during beta testing. But also: I couldn't agree more with nicka: My wish would be that all the large projects are put to one side for a month or two in favour of a bit of consolidation, making small additions and adjustments to what is already there so that ...

Re: spacing in sentences
While writing in mellel i often came back to past parts and add or subtract text, instead of pushing and puling the whole paragraph, it squeezes or pushes the same lines text apart as shown in the picture below, can this auto option be turned off, i want the text to push the whole paragraph http://...

Re: Suggestions for cross-references
You are perfectly right. I have made suggestions along the same line during the beta-testing process and Ori told me the Redlers were thinking of improving the reference window to make it more intuitive, e.g. by including auto-title numbering, in the auto-title list. Ori, would you like to comment o...

Re: Serious spam problem
Dear all, The spam problem is indeed a nuisance. And I miss a comment of someone from the Redlers about this serious problem. I have just checked the Bookends forum and found no spam. Maybe Jon purges the forum manually (poor one!) or they have found a way to do this automatically? Maybe the Redlers...
