Re: Getting rid of the line in the compact view?

I could not agree more with the OP, even though it appears to have taken me nearly five years to say so. I do seem to remember having a discussion about this when compact view first appeared, but the thinking was (I believe) that since Mellel was a print-centric word processor, the user should alway...

This rather highlights my wish that the two separate Mellel fora be combined into one. The distinction between them has always been rather blurred, and has led to duplication and confusion.

Re: Feature request: hyperlinks to external files

I am sorry that it has taken me a while to respond to R P Cameron’s detailed explanation of the options here. I visit this forum rather randomly. Speaking for myself, what I am looking for with links to external files in Mellel is simply the ability to extend the reach of Mellel by having separate b...

Re: Feature request: hyperlinks to external files

I second this. It is a feature I have been hoping to see in Mellel for a very long time.

Yes, both Illustrator files and Illustrator selections can be dragged into Mellel documents, where they can be manipulated like any other embedded graphic --except that they stay sharp on scaling up. The only drawbacks I have encountered are that graphics with no background in Illustrator import wit...

Agreed. For my money the typewriter itself was perfect from the beginning. actually one of the things I really liked about Mellel. The II was a backward step, though I don't mind the golden blush that arrived with it. I am slightly ashamed to realise how much app icons matter to me, but they just do...

Re: Full-screen mode

(I appreciate, by the way, that this is a product of the "Keep together" function of the paragraph style. I can therefore stop it happening by changing the style definitions.) I'm not sure that is the case: if you write one long paragraph that spans several pages in Mellel view, and then ...

I have not voted on this because while I am happy with the position of the tab-well, I think the current state of affairs could be improved. In particular, it should be possible to option-drag tabs in order to add new tabs of the same type. That alone would save most trips to the tab-well. Then, rat...

I had to vote No here, because although I would like Mellel to have improved graphics handling and particularly hyperlinks, I would hate Mellel to implement them as Pages, Word and AppleWorks do.

I also agree that compulsory Word-type styling for links would not be the Mellel way, and that links should have to be explicitly created. The obvious thing would be user-definable Link Styles, which could include "Use surrounding". With reference to my request for links to external files,...

Some people above have expressed a hope for references that span Mellel documents. I don’t know how easy this would be to achieve, but it would represent a great leap in the potential scope of information referenced. It would also mean that you could see two pieces of text simultaneously, so that in...

I agree with others in this thread that Mellel should not automatically leave full screen when switching apps. If you are concentrating on a text in full screen, and a reminder pops up from iCal or some other app, it is irritating to have to manually take Mellel back into full screen after dismissin...

Is this difficulty font-specific Enkidum? If you open a new doc with a different font/style, can you reproduce the bug then?
I have had weird things happen with individual fonts in Mellel.
