The right page is what I'm having trouble with. I've put a reverse tab in the header paragraph style at the far right side (as well as obviously a centre tab) but the page number keeps dropping to the next line. Is it possible to make the first letter of a sentence drop cap?

And then make the next sentence directly underneath the line without the space between; and have the next sentence start directly next to the big section of the letter?

Hello ozean, Yes, that helps a lot. Also, I am trying to understand character style variations. To my understanding - if I want to make a word bold then instead of pressing ⌘ + B I should go to the character palette and then chose the variation from the top (it took me a while to find that). Thanks 4 the quick reply. There must be an issue because I had that already checked. I didn't think about it before but now that you mention it I checked and it was already set to "update document styles" I have a paragraph style set and the associated font is also created in the character...
