Re: No palettes in full screen?
OK! When I accidentally clicked "reset palettes" from the menu in full screen, palettes appeared. But, FYI, it is still the case that neither the shortcut nor the menu will toggle the palettes. I can only turn them on or off by actually closing the palettes window and by clicking reset pal...

Re: No palettes in full screen?
Just for more detail (and prove I'm not making this up!), it also does not toggle if I use the menu to do it, either. i.e. if I do this in full screen, I don't get any palettes:

Re: No palettes in full screen?
i.e. I am absolutely sure I don't just have them toggled off inadvertently, and I am using the correct keyboard shortcut.

Re: No palettes in full screen?
I still cannot see palettes in full screen since the most recent update (need it for bibliography, and to use lists). When I have palettes toggled on in non-full screen, when I go to full screen, they do not appear. They also do not appear when I use the shortcut, ⌘*. I am up to date on Mellel, and ...

No palettes in full screen?
Hi. With the most recent update, I've lost the ability to have palettes open while working in full screen. The palette window disappears in full screen, and does not toggle back on when I use the keyboard shortcut. ...Or is there some new way to do this that I am missing? I'd like to continue to be ...

Re: Spell Check Freeze / Crash
OK, FYI, maybe it is still a Mellel problem, because with spell check only (no grammar), which is what I was doing on Mellel, Word can spellcheck this document without crashing.

Re: Spell Check Freeze / Crash
Alright, now Word can't find the grammar file for English. This happened pretty close to the same place (about 130 pages in) that I got to when Mellel first started acting up. I guess it is not a Mellel-specific problem, although Mellel's reaction is a lot more catastrophic than in Word (something I...

Re: Spell Check Freeze / Crash
ozean, where/how do I upload my document? Can I make sure it is not public, since this is a document for publication?

Re: Spell Check Freeze / Crash
So far, an exported version opens and spell checks fine in Word. I guess I am going to have to check it in Word and manually change spelling back in Mellel unless another solution emerges.

Re: Spell Check Freeze / Crash
In safe mode it won't spell check at all. If I click on "check spelling," the edit menu is highlight for a second, but then nothing happens––the spell check window does not appear.

Spell Check Freeze / Crash
If anyone can solve this problem quickly, I will be eternally grateful, since the document that is crashing is the dissertation I am trying to submit ASAP. Every time I try to spell check this document, which is a bit over 300 pages with Bookends footnotes, I get the spinning wheel of death. Mellel ...

Re: footnotes: missing space number and text
Can someone explain how to insert a space rather than a tab in notes? The only format options I see under "edit note attributes" are none or a tab.

Re: convert straight quotes to typographer's quotes?
Ack! Actually, I do NOT recommend wordservice if you are trying to convert straight to smart quotes in a document with footnotes! Converting erases the footnotes. If I hadn't backed up recently I would be in a world pain right now, losing a chapter's worth of footnotes in my dissertation! So, I'm ba...

Re: convert straight quotes to typographer's quotes?
Wordservice seems to work, although if I select an autotitle in Mellel and convert to smartquotes, the autotitling disappears. That's not ideal. I'll have to change it section by section. Blech! It would be nice if Mellel did this.
Thanks!
Thanks!

convert straight quotes to typographer's quotes?
Is there an easy way to convert all the straight quotation marks in a document into typographer's quotation marks? Changing the setting in Preferences only affects what I type form that point on. Find/replace can easily change them in the opposite direction, but I can't think of how to go from strai...
