Re: Bookends does not scan documents anymore ?!?
As explained in my first post, it's not a linking problem and its not an High Sierra problem.

Re: Bookends does not scan documents anymore ?!?
Same here actually. I just tried scanning through the drop-down menu, and indeed that crashes Mellel.

Bookends does not scan documents anymore ?!?
I am experiencing this problem, apparently since the last update (4.01) in Mellel, when I click on the "scan" button in existing documents nothing happens. However, newly created documents, or old documents which previously did not have any citation, seems to work normally. How-however, if...

Exceedingly wide sidebar... Why?
I just upgraded to 4.0. Literally the first thing I noticed is that I cannot make the sidebar (structure-index-story) as narrow as I could before. This is majorly inconvenient, because on my screen (a not too small 15" Retina Macbook pro) that means that I have either not to use the sidebar, us...

Re: ibid & italics problem
I have the same issue, and would love to see it solved. I think it actually happens only from the second scan on. That is to say, the first time that an un-scanned document is scanned, the italicization is correctly applied to the ibid. only, but then if the same document is re-scanned, then the pro...

Re: What is the best font.
I like Minion Pro (similar to Libertine in style, but a little stronger) and Simoncini Garamond (even more "formal", I would say). In comparison with the other fonts here cited, they might have the advantage of being less widely used, so that they can look "fresher" and more orig...

Re: Language settings still not working as intended
As a practical example of things that conceptually could work very easily but for some (technical?) reason still don't... I have a document previously written in British-English, I would now like to change the spell-check to American-English now (actually this shift might well be the most common in ...

Language settings still not working as intended
We discussed this already in a past topic, and I am pleased to see that the option to set languages through character styles has been picked up. There are however at least two problem. First, structurally, there are now too many places where the language can be set. One in the palette (ad hoc), one ...

Re: No palettes in full screen?
I see the palette regularly in full screen, just as before. Are you sure you haven't simply toggled it off inadvertently?

Re: Setting the language for the spell-check
In the new version, 3.1, I only see a minor change, that is that now new footnotes retain the language of the text they refers to. Besides that, the behaviour is extremely odd. • The option to set the default language does not seem to work, whatever I set (or not) there, I always get a new document ...

Re: Setting the language for the spell-check
I know, the original post was mine in fact. The intervened discussion, however, has convinced me that the right place is character styles. This especially because, since character styles can be linked to paragraph styles, such option would be still suitable for those that would prefer to set the lan...

Re: Setting the language for the spell-check

I second the wish that there needs to be a third method to assign language to parts of the text.
I agree, but it is not at all clear what kind of method it would be.
It would be within character styles.

Re: Setting the language for the spell-check
I just wanted to clarify that my original point wasn't even about MULTI-language within a document. I have problems now even with JUST ONE language, so long as I have to use more than one through DIFFERENT documents, because the way in which the language is set makes it a chore to set the spell-chec...

Re: Setting the language for the spell-check
Some additional points regarding this. 1. It is possible and quite common to switch languages within the same paragraph. I don't think languages, as it relates to spelling, can or should be a paragraph attribute.
If that is true, it should also be true for hyph...
