I think this depends on if you set the whole author name in small caps (i.e. the first letter is also a small cap), or if the first letter is a standard capital letter and the following ones are small caps. If you want the latter behavior, then you have to format things manually, I think, because Me...

Great question – I am very interested how people deal with this. I do a mediocre job with tending the document info. (I usually forget that these fields exist somewhere. I only think of them, when I use document variables in the respective document.) Therefore I am mostly relying on a solid folder s...

The “citations in purply-blue” phase is already the final stage – if you print this page to PDF, you will notice that the blue coding is gone in the print. The citation objects keep a specific color so that one can see that they are still there as citation objects – that means you can always unscan ...

Then, if I put the citation in Bookends as a Journal Article the URL will not appear, but if I put it in Internet format I get the URL but part of the information is not presented. The APA style does not require the URL to be displayed with an article. If you want the URL to appear, you have to cha...

The process continues, and then nothing happened Er, strange! What should happen is that all the light blue fields in Mellel (i.e. the citation objects imported from Bookends) should now be in a darker shade of blue and look like defined by the Chicago format that you chose. That is the citation ob...

ah, too bad – I posted a reply in the Bookends forum, but reading this thread, some of the issues are either addressed already or have shifted. So even if I were to put the original name in a separate field, I suspect I would still end up with a comma between the surname and the first name, which is...

But I don't know how to get into the package. Do a right click/control click on the .mellel file (which is the package) and then select Show Package Contents in the context menu. This will open a new window displaying the contents of the package… A package is just a folder that pretends to be a fil...
Re: XML
I've not yet bought Mellel, and would like to pose a question the opposite of Raymond's. If I have a number of Mellel files, but unfortunately no longer have access to Mellel, how can I extract the XML text? Or you just unzip the XML file that is embedded in the .mellel package and open it in a tex...
