Re: a combination of indent and outdent?
What about a paragraph setting with an indent of 0.25" (or similar), with a left margin of 0.5"? You can also make the rest of the first line align with the margin of the body by setting a left tab to the same position as the left margin.

Re: Hebrew words reversed in Word export
It sounds like the problem may be Word/Windows' BiDi algorithm in Uniscribe causing the issues. Certain Unicode ranges are supposed to trigger BiDi handling, but Uniscribe might not support Syriac properly. In any case, override codes ought to fix this, so it might be a bug. I wonder if you created ...

Re: Hebrew words reversed in Word export
I am having this identical problem, with Syriac, when exporting the latest version of Mellel to a Windows 7 computer that has Word 2007. What are the Unicode Hex signs for RTL and LTR? RLE: U+202B; LRE: U+202A There is also the Right-to-Left Override (RLO): U+202E; and LRO: U+202D. An override or e...

Re: Migrating from Notabene
RTF is probably your best option. Nota Bene can export to RTF, and Mellel can import that. However, you might have to do additional work to get your styles and footnotes imported properly, as those are areas where Mellel's RTF support is lacking. Also, migrating your structure into Mellel's Auto-Tit...

Re: Keyboard Shortcut for Bullet List?/Introducing Macros?
The command to start a list is ⌘]. You can increase another level with the same shortcut. ⌘[ decreases the level, and ⌘\ removes the list style from the paragraph.

Re: Mellel developers... you out there?
Word export has improved a lot and I hope it keeps improving. This is where a bunch of the confusion about Mellel's Word support comes from. Mellel DOES NOT export to Microsoft Word format. Mellel exports files to RTF, which is a format that Microsoft created to allow other programs to have the sam...

Re: Feature request: TAB key in lists?
Hey folks, I think it'd be rather useful if one could a TAB key to decrease a level in a list and an ENTER key to increase, rather than clicking an arrow in the "List" palette. What say you? (Btw, haven't heard from the Redlers in a while, are you guys busy writing an iPad version? :P) Pe...

Re: Feature request: TAB key in lists?
As for autotitles, I do love the function, but I'm disappointed that one can't just swap autotitle levels (in terms of formatting, etc.). It would make things a whole lot easier when adding new levels and when changing the structure of a larger document (such as an academic monograph). What exactly...

Re: Mellel developers... you out there?
Great to hear that. I wonder which platform this is. It could be Windows, but I suspect it is iOS. Anyway, it will hopefully expand Mellel's audience. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'd like to see improvements to Mellel that many have been waiting for before expanding to new platforms: Cascading s...

Re: Feature request: TAB key in lists?
Since ⇥ (tab) and ↵ (return) have other functions, why not default to what most other software uses: ⌘[ to decrease the indent, and ⌘] to increase the indent. Similarly, such a command could equally be used in an Auto-Title to promote/demote an Auto-Title, whether in the text or in the outline pane.

Re: How to search for a return character.
In your situation then, you'll want to put the carriage return in the find window, then select it and group it. Then, in the the replace field, insert the full stop followed by the backreference to group 1. This will accomplish what you're trying to do.

Re: How to search for a return character.
I find that Mellel's implementation of regex searching is a bit odd at times, and can be hard to decipher. Personally I find it easier to write it out as an actual regex, then translate that into Mellel's format. What exactly are you trying to find and replace, and is the 'return' part of what needs...
