Re: Find Sets - prompt before replacing?

Hello, joseph_anton et al You may have found it out already by yourself, but I thought I should mention the following, just for the record: Find Actions in a Find Set can also be selected individually (using the Command key) and then run without triggering the other Find Actions in that Find Set. If...

Re: Endnotes

how to cut and paste […] a Bibliography into a position after Notes? This seems to indicate that (1) selecting the bibliography, (2) cutting and then (3) pasting the bibliography after the endnotes is somehow difficult. I'm not sure why you say that. This is what I do to get the endnotes between th...

Re: New User Looking for Simple Template

To the specific query by Icelander Well, actually there were two queries…. : -) The footnotes number font character was unmodifiable. The orginal document had the footnote numbers in superscript. This can be easily modified. You just need to go to Insert menu –> Note –> Edit note attributes… and ad...

Re: New User Looking for Simple Template

Hello wstaylor711, I've tried importing some Word->RTF files but the conversion leaves some elements unmodifiable Just curious, what elements turn out to be unmodifiable in Mellel? Judging from what you wrote, your goal can be achieved with any word processor; so why do you want to use Mellel? I'm n...

Re: A call for tables

For me, table "breaks" (automatic at the bottom of a page, but with the ability to input manual breaks) with defined headings that would carry over to the next page are also important for those who translate or provide multi-lingual columnar data. I don't understand. Being a translator my...

Re: {} when exporting to RTF and Word

When I export to RTF, the citations look exactly the same in the RTF document as in the Mellel document. How did you do it? I guess more information is needed on your part. Do you use Bookends? What program do you use to open the RTF document? Do you use Live Bibliography in Mellel? Did you meddle w...

Re: find/replace punctuation mark (apostrophe)

Hi Manu, it doesn't work because Mellel replaces the English apostrophe with a French one preceded by a conditional blank space […] Aristotle ’s Distinction is inserted instead of Aristotle’s Distinction. By me, Find and Replace work as expected. I therefore suggest you do the following: Create a ne...

Re: A call for tables

Another table-feature I very often need is auto-fill a selected column . Examples: I select the cells in the first column and Mellel automatically inserts the numbers, month names, or day names for me, like this: 1 2 3 4 5 Or January February March etc. Or 1960 1961 1962 etc. This requires that I wr...

Re: A call for tables

1. Ability to work with something akin to 'table styles' It would also be nice if one could draw a table (like in Nisus and Word). A small window should then appear where on can choose a background color for the first column and the top row, similar to what is now possible in Pages and Nisus Writer...

Re: A call for tables

2. I find the definition of keyboard shortcuts annoying: in order to insert a tab into the text I have to press alt-tab because the tab key jumps to the next table cell. I think this is a long-standing, international accepted convention or norm. I can't remember any Mac application where this is NO...

Re: footnote format request and another

How can you do that? I did it with Text Boxes in Nisus Writer Pro. The numbers are updated automatically, and you can bookmark and cross-reference the numbers. In MS Word one can use frames ( "Positionsrahmen" in German), but it requires some preparatory work. The sad thing is, you can't ...

Re: footnote format request and another

I haven't found any wordprocessor which can do this so far.
Take a look at this. Isn't this exactly what you want to do? It wasn't difficult to do it.

Re: Intermin solutions for working with .mellel docs in ProWritingAid

I'm not certain about the limitations of the free service, but it may well be that you are limited to checking 500 words at a time. Yes, it's only 500 words. You can paste in more, but everything after the first 500 words will be ignored. This is a bit tricky, because if one is not aware of this, o...

Re: Intermin solutions for working with .mellel docs in ProWritingAid

I can't answer your question, Joseph, but I tested the free option today. My first impression is that the program concentrates too much, perhaps exclusively, on individual words instead of words in context. Therefore most of the suggestions were wrong. Passive voice is always flagged. The sentence: ...

Re: Intermin solutions for working with .mellel docs in ProWritingAid

I have a large Mellel document (80,000+ words) that I hope to check with ProWritingAid before finalizing it. This requires a $50 yearly subscription fee. ProWritingAid Free edits only 500 words at a time and is online only. It's also limited to 19 Writing Reports, which I'm not sure what means. Doe...
