Re: Drag-n-drop from EndNote X?
I would rather not start a discussion on Bookends vs Sente vs EndNote, I just want EndNote to do the drag-and-drop properly, and I get the license for free at my university. rgds Roger I do too, but the academic pricing on Bookends is so cheap and it was too easy to import Endnote references into B...

Re: Latexit, Scrivener, and Mellel
I'm pretty happy with the functionality of Latexit and Mellel, even without Linkback support. I've saved Latexit equations as PDF and used Insert>Image in Mellel, although I've also just dragged the equation from Latexit directly into Mellel. Latexit lets you save equations in a pallet, so I just go...

Re: WHY?
I also have Bookends but have not done a smooth transition to it. The references are a bit of a mess (some fields are not right). Have to keep reading the manual and figure a way to fix that correctly). Cheers! Sorry to hear that. I've had nothing but good experience creating a BibTeX-compatible bi...
Re: WHY?
I just started a masters program and was referred to Mellel as a superior tool for writing. Can anyone give me the pluses and minuses of Mellel over Pages (and, God forbid - Word)? Also, what are the differences between Endnote and Bookends and which is the better tool? Thanks, The combination of M...

Re: avoiding double )( in citations
Well, there's different ways to do this, such as putting multiple references in a single citation, etc. However, I prefer the manual approach whereby I manually add the parentheses and citation separators (comma, semi-colon, etc.) in Mellel and Bookends only adds the Author-Year and the punctuation ...

Sarah, I don't actually know if this requires upgrading, perhaps someone can confirm this. I only started using a Mac last May. One question leading to the next, how do you guys go about adding images to messages here? I uploaded the image to my website, then placed the url between 2 image tags: [im...

Hi Dave, I was trying to do the latter, i.e. write part of the heading text in italic. Tried the writing elsewhere (Mellel or TextEdit) and pasting apporach, to no avail. Now I'm gonna have to admit defeat to my MSWord-using thesis advisor. As if it's not bad enough that I don't do tack changes Tha...

Re: figure heading font help, before my advisor kills me!
Hi all, I'm using Mellel 2.1.3. I need to italicize part (not all!) of my figure heading text. The closest I got was to italicize the entire heading, but that's not what I need. I was going to attach a screenshot of what I was doing, but can't be bothered to figure out how it's done here, since it'...

Re: Leopard problems with Mellel
I've just installed Leopard this weekend. I have had no problems with most of my third party programs, including Bookends and Accordance. However, I can launch Mellel, but cannot open any existing documents or even begin a new document. Any suggestions? Thank you. What version of Bookends works wit...

There are a number of fairly reasonable free backup programs for Mac out there. One of them (rsync) Yes, RSYNC is sweet. I use it daily to backup my notebook to 2 external HDD's. It's fast and flexible. I usually call it from a bash script or Quicksilver, but, now that I'm learning Automator, I'll ...

I have to reply to my own post :( It looks as if nobody knows the answer. This probably means that for the time being you either use endnotes (the rel ones) or Bookends list of references in your document. It looks stupid when endnotes come after the bibliography. I haven't used the endnotes featur...
