Are you sure you did save your auto-title setup? I always forget to do this and then find myself wondering about why they do not appear in other documents…

Re: Looks plausible

It's been a while since I felt comfortable fiddling with Mac system settings You could also delete the launchdb using a tool such as Marcel Bresink’s most excellent "TinkerTool System". It allows for five (I think) free full-featured evaluation runs and might help you perform these tasks ...

Now that's a clever workaround!
The only backdraw is that it would cause clutter by doubling the number of character styles… But until the Redlers have implemented this as a distinct feature I will rely on your suggestion, I guess.
Thanks for the tip!

I wonder if there is any good reason for Mellel not to allow two or more auto-title flows to have the same structural level. I can't see any, but I could be overlooking something. That would be one way that the developers could solve this problem properly. Yes, I also wondered about this. Having th...

It might be a good idea to send this document to the Redlers, so that they can fix this import issue in the next build.

Re: Mellel 2.1.1: localisations, paste special, zoom, more

• Paste Special: Paste options for paste as plain text, character attributes, paragraph attributes, and list attributes. Wonderful! Thanks! One thing to quibble about though: Could you set a default keyboard shortcut for copy and paste plain text (apple+alt+c or v) – I tried to set a shortcut using...

I just opened the file test-wise in TextEdit and saw that by default, TextEdit seems to open it with the wrong encoding causing non-ascii characters like umlauts (öäü) not to be displayed correctly. TextWrangler opened the file without problems. The file seems to be encoded as UTF-8 - perhaps one co...

Re: reply

I didn't see the "keep with next" button, that's right. However, I prefer having the lables below figures... Is there any solution for that, too? Yes: define a paragraph style for figures and set "keep with next" to 1 line. That way the line following the figure’s paragraph (i.e...

Strange, I never had the idea that one would want to open the spellings file in Mellel instead of in a text editor. I would guess the reason for this is that a list of words belonging to different categories is something distinctly different to a flow of text that contains individual formatting, not...

(2) Tables: I did not figure out how to prevent tables from floating over page borders. In principle, this is a nice feature, but it would be cool if one could turn it off. If I understand correctly, you mean the table problem where part of the table vanishes over the table border instead of flowin...

Re: Feedback

(3) I used auto-titles to label my figures and tables. I missed the possibility to stick titles to figures, so that they act as a group. It is quite annoying when the figure is on one page and the title is on the next. I did that too – and I had them stick to their objects. 8) If your labels are ab...

Thanks for the tip. That is certainly helpful as a workaround. However, I would still prefer it if the undefined mention would just be empty instead of filled with this strange string. I think it is a good idea to provide some feedback in the interface telling users that a definition is missing. But...

You mean manually in those situations? Or could this be done automatically. Manually would be … a hassle – to put it mildyly ;)

But thanks for the suggestion. Might be the only workaround for now…

need: clean empty mentions (even better: fallback mechanism)

I have set up my mentions in such a way that odd pages display the name of the chapter and even pages the name of the subchapter in the header. However, I do not always have a subchapter defined (some of my chapters are not long enough to require subchapters), therefore I have plenty of pages in my ...

I use different Auto-Titles to accomplish this. The normal (hierarchical / chapter) Auto-Titles are then put into a part of the TOC that is seperate from the other Auto-Title streams (in my case those are photo, graphic, transcript). When I insert a TOC the TOC is produced in one section, first the ...
