feature request: SORT

From time to time I have to deal with text that doesn't have to look good, but simply needs a bit of organization. Sorting (in its various mood swings) is a practical way of organizing some of the raw data, and there are times when it really comes in handy. Mellel, for the moment, doesn't have a &qu...

Strange; I'm not experiencing this. Are you sure your Auto-Titles are not linked to a specific template?

As someone mentioned above -- this is purely a question of if this can be done fast... Ori Preferably, it should be "automatic" at least if it's for quite local references (I'm not sure I really need automatic updates of CRs that refer to main chapters or sections). If not possible for re...

I vote "Yes" on this one, but I don't think it's very urgent. LaTeX can do it too (including links and so forth). So yes, for Mellel it would be definitely a good move to export the Outline pane into a structured PDF TOC.

It doesn't really matter whether you're a pro or not. When you're in a situation where you have more than 500 footnotes and 100 tables or figures, you'll curse plain text export. That depends on what the alternatives are; but with a bit of planning, footnotes, tables etc. can all be plain-texted (j...

so why no add that extra touch to make it a proper LaTeX export filter? Legitimate question; but I find when I'm copying and pasting plain texted-Mellel (or any other PT-export) into LaTeX, there's always quite a number of additional things to do to make LaTeX really into the powerful beast it is (...

I'm not sure I really want LaTeX export functionality. I write in LaTeX when I need to, and in Mellel when I can - both are two different worlds to me. Ulysses (corrected), for example, allows TEX export - but it's basic and actually not that useful. I wouldn't want Mellel to take that same directio...

Timotheus, I understood you were talking about goals, although you didn't want to talk about those, but more about ways to get to these goals.

We won't reach those targets at the first shot. Let's start with what we have in our hands: the bow & the arch.

What about cross-referencing?

Best, V.

What I said, is that Mellel must become indisputably the best application for academic writing. And for me this means essentially two things [snip]: What you propose is a worthwhile goal, but to me it seems unrealistic in the short term. a) "indisputably" paired with "academic":...

In my opinion, the implementation of major features should always be preceded by a thorough discussion on this forum. And the developers themselves should take the initiative to this discussion, which at a certain moment should lead to concrete decisions and to concrete and public committments. We ...

Re: mailtags is not the problem

I've thrown out the "Contents" folder related to MailTags (a mail plugin) that was sitting in my root /Library/Spotlight folder; and I've chucked out the mailtag.mdimporter in the Users/me/Library/Spotlight folder as well.. Mailtags is not the source of the problem. I do not and have neve...

Re: Spotlight is working

This morning, almost a day later, Spotlight finds the file in question. Something similar happened on my other computer a week or so ago. It appears that Spotlight "takes its time" to update some of its indexing. I have no idea what priority it uses, whether it does a shallow indexing of ...

couldn't it also be that the version you have installed already, is current? Yes, it probably was, but since Spotlight wasn't finding some of what I was looking for, I was hoping that the plug-in would be newer. Thus, I deleted the plug-in that was there and tried to reinstall, but was unable to do...

Re: plugin doesn't work

I am running 10.4.7 and I have no trouble with .doc .xls or .Mellel. I did once and I found a extraneous folder inside the Spotlight folder. I deleted it and everything now works fine with the Mellel importer 1.6.5. Cheers! Do you happen to remember which folder it was? I have: mellel.mdimporter So...
