Just curious, since I'm starting to work on something that will be of some size.
Do you see that phenomena in both compact and Mellel views?

Re: Auto-titles and paragraph-character styles
(Hopefully this isn't a duplicate post - I had to go through a login cycle after I wrote this.) The diamond styles may seem mysterious, but I don't think they need to be. I struggled with Mellel styles initially, then realized I was making mountains out of styled molehills. What the diamond means is...

Re: How do Mellel users take notes?
If this is a duplicate post, apologies. Every time I start to post, something comes up. i don't think I"ve actually posted here or in any parallel thread. Here's some longwinded thoughts on note-taking and writing. I get a lot of good from Devonthink. I don't use its comprehensive searching as ...

Style variations - what are the best practices?
I'm having a lot of fun exploring Mellel. Lots of power. I'm not sure what cases call for character style variations. I can see that if I want to provide emphasis that may be different in different contexts - like bold versus italic - a style variation would be a simple way. Then, if I changed the f...

Re: Is there a way to indent beyond 29.99 pt?
I answered my own question. You can't set start margins inside of existing tab stops.
Once I cleared all the tab stops in the paragraph style I could set the start and indent margins anywhere I wanted.

Is there a way to indent beyond 29.99 pt?
I'm trying to develop a style/auto-title set for outlining.
When I try to set the indent or start margin for a paragraph style to more than 29.99 pt, it reverts to 29.99.
Is there a way to set, for example, a 250 point indent (start margin)?

Re: I like the new icon, but...
Without wanting to distract from the fondness we all feel for our loved ones and icons, is there a larger picture? At this writing the feng shui of typewriters with shadows is a matter of multinational discussion. But what if, and I"m not trying to encourage wild speculation or conspiracy theor...

hyperlinks in story points and comments
Is it possible to insert formatted hyperlinks in story points and comments? By "formatted" I mean clickable text. That's already somewhat possible. If you paste a URL for either a local file or application's deep link into a story point, you can highlight the URL, right click, and choose &...

Re: Feature request: split view
There is a way to get multiple snapshot views of a document. File->Duplicate will make a second copy of a file and open it in a separate window. For safety's sake, I save the duplicate with a name like "delete-me". Once the file is saved with a name, you can click the "lock" chec...

Re: Numbering the footnotes
Meant to add, one thing I'm learning to do is remember that there is more to the world than styles. Tough for me to admit, since I really like using styles. When you insert a page style break, it has the effect of a page break plus it adds a little fence between what came before and what goes after....

Re: Numbering the footnotes
I bet I can answer this, even though I'm but an apprentice in the Mellel wizardry game. Page ranges are delimited by "page style breaks," one of the types of breaks in the menu "insert->break." From the manual, page 190: Text in Mellel is divided into one or more page ranges, tha...

Re: Page break before auto-title
Thanks for your help, Laup. I was pretty sure things would become apparent with some confirmation from others. Sure enough, they did. I believe I must have been fooling myself with the difference between my new "Novel" auto-title flow and "Novel (modified)." All is well, and my c...

Page break before auto-title
The new version of Mellel is awesome.
I think I'm doing something wrong. When I set an auto-title to insert a page break before the title, I don't get a page break.
Any suggestions on where I should look?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Feature request: split view
I’m working on a technical document right now and keep a second copy of my document open to refer to earlier sections as I resolve consistency issues. Multiple views into a document would be very helpful.

Me too. Splits or multiple windows would be very handy.
