Just in case this is helpful to others, I've solved the problem. The document in question was created from an imported RTF file. To solve the problem I selected the entire document, copied it to the clipboard (about 50 pages or so) and pasted it into a new Mellel document, applied my styles and – pr...

Thanks Nicka. I understand and agree with your comments about breaking footnotes, but in this case Mellel is sending less than one line to the next page. As is it is, for example, one page has three foonotes each two lines in length, but that last words of the third footnote are sent to the other pa...

Footnotes & page percentage

Dear Mellel Wisdom,

I have the height limit set to 100% in note streams, but notes are still being broken up unnecessarily across pages. What am I missing?

Crumbs, I think I've answered my own question. Bookends 10 is a free upgrade of Bookends 9 if the latter was purchased after July 1.

Sorry to be bother...

Mellel + Bookends 10?

I'm on the verge of taking the plunge, but I've just noticed that, according to the Redlers website, the version of Bookends that comes in the offer is version 9. Is there any hope of getting 10 in a similar deal or is the website just out of date?

Thanks.

Of course you are right! The trick was that one must first click on (select) the thing in the 'element list'.

... as you said.

Cheers!

Demo limitations

Dear Mellel wisdom,

Is the fact that I cannot edit the font (character) attributes for autotitling a limitation of the demo version?

YOurs,

B.

I have a question about autotitling and I thought I should post in an existing thread. Is it possible to get rid of the numbering altogther and just preserve the hierarchy? I did this in MS Word, which I am trying to free myself from, but many publishers like the subheadings and hierarchical organis...

Learner's Question about footnotes and bib. formatting

When I've had time, I've been playing with Mellel in the hope of emigrating from Word. The latest version seems excellent. There is something that I don't quite get (and I'm certain it's my own fault). When I create a footnote, I followed the intructions in the manual and dragged the citation into M...

I think this is the only thing keeping me from dropping Word altogether. Even if I have to switch from Endnote to Bookends, it might be worth it if this gets working in Mellel. I think it's a great app.

Thanks again for all the replies. At this point I think that I will leave Mellel and Bookends (demos) on my computer and wait and see what happens around the time of the Word 2007 'upgrade'. At that point I will either emigrate to Mellel or keep trudging the hard road of Word. In the meantime I will...
