Sounds like dark mode is on the way in 5.2.
Always nice to see a new version of Mellel on the way.

Re: Features I'd like to see in Mellel
The epub export isn't a bad bug. I don't have my notes with me right now. As I recall, it's how the graphics files are named in the epub manifest. Every once in a while I think it would be cool to be able to copy a ruler. However, that's a non-styled way to get the job done. Better to set up a parag...

Re: TOC setup margins and indent
The TOC uses whatever paragraph styles you want from the document. The same styles available when you're editing the document are available when setting up an auto-title. One thing I've found that can cause grief is if you have more tab characters in an auto-title than you have tab stops in the auto...

Re: TOC setup margins and indent
Well, crud. I wasn't logged in when I replied. If this is a duplicate, apologies. Each auto-title has its own ruler with tabs and margins independent of all other auto-titles, and independent of the document. If the margins or tabs are wrong when you insert a TOC, the best fix is to delete the TOC, ...

Re: Editing character and paragraph attributes of Auto-title
That’s pretty much it, but if you want you can have text and variables of different styles within an auto-title. For instance, you could hack “Chaoter X” in one style and your actual chapter name in another, all within the auto-title.

Re: Section of columns?
This got my curiosity. The trick is to insert a section break. After the break, use the section tab in the palettes to choose how many columns you want. When you want to go back to a normal single column page, insert another section break. You can either manually insert column breaks or you can enab...

Re: Editing character and paragraph attributes of Auto-title
An auto-title is not associated with any single character or paragraph type - you can use as many as you want in any auto-title. Open the palettes before you go into the auto-title configuration. Apply styles from the palettes window just as you would in the main editor window. To make new paragraph...

Re: Problem with footnotes when exporting into docx
Interesting. If I export a test document with a footnote, Nisus Writer Pro and Apple Pages open the docx with the footnote reference superscripted both in the main part of the document and on the footnote itself. I don't have a copy of Word. However, if I open the exported docx with Mellel, feeding ...

Re: New application for importing and exporting MELLE \ WORD while maintaining the structure of comment streams
Nice! One of the things I like about Mellel is the document structure is clear enough that you can extract the text of a document without Mellel. That makes Mellel safe. I wrote an ugly, command-line Python script to do a mail merge from a Mellel document. I don't use it frequently, but when it's ti...

Is there anything weird in File->Page Setup?
If you choose a different page geometry does the problem go away?

Re: Running Headers--How to?
I've looked at page 214 et seq. of the Manual, (v.5.1) but I can't figure out how to configure running headers for this common scenario: verso pages: name of Part in header, page number in footer recto pages: name of Chapter in header, page number in footer new Chapter page: no header When you edit...

Re: New Video: Configuring Auto-titles
"changes you make to the style set in one document, will not apply to other documents even if they use the same set." - Yes, exactly how it should work, because even though a global and a local (diamond) style set could have the same name, they are independent. Here's a trick I learned thi...

Re: New Video: Configuring Auto-titles
Eyal, thank you for your reply. I think this anchors my understanding. Document (diamond) and global style sets are easy with the rules understood. I can see I can make better use of styles, too. Here's some take-aways this morning. If I'm off base, please correct me. If I want a document to appear ...

Re: New Video: Configuring Auto-titles
Nice video. If I don't modify auto-titles or styles for a while, I have to experiment a little to figure out where I'm modifying things. When you modify a style or auto-title, you might want the change to be just in the current document, or you might want to change the global definition of a style o...

Re: Change the template for an existing document
Would this be the correct procedure? First, make a backup of your document. If the new styles aren't already global, go into the new template and click the "make global" button in the edit styles window. Then, load the new document and switch to the new style set in the styles pulldown win...
