Formatting Autotitle Elements
I have a hard time formatting auto titles and must be doing something wrong, probably very elementary. I thought that the idea was to select a given element of an autotitle definition and double-click the relevant paragraph format in the paragraph palette. However, I frequently am unable to get this...

Yes, I had not noticed this. Most odd. Should be fixed.

Re: Updated advice on equations and equation numbering
Let me add some important items. 1. Equation and Equation Number on Same Line . The auto-title approach (Method 2 in my previous post) allows for the equation number to be on the same line as the equation. When defining the auto-title for Equation Number, set a tab close to the right margin where yo...

Re: Updated advice on equations and equation numbering
Responding to my own question, I have tried two methods for entering equations. Both seem acceptable. The first may be more feasible with the new beta's treatment of tables. The latter is what Ori suggested months ago (using autotitles). Method 1. Insert a table with two columns, one row. Adjust the...

List orders
It is possible to put lists of, e.g., character styles or paragraph styles in whatever order one wants. That seems to work only on one's current device. Is there a file that can be synchronized across devices, perhaps in Library/Application Support? If so, I don't see it.

Re: how to remove auto-title attribute?
I see no problem here with Mellel. 1. Copy the header in question (or, if numbered, just the text part) 2. Paste Special as Plain Text as a new line. 3. Delete the previous header. You can do as you wish with the string of text, as usual. If you copied and pasted special an entire numbered auto titl...

Web for Custom Stuff?
Is it possible to store custom styles, autotitles, etc. in the cloud, ideally in Dropbox? If so, where do I specify the location?
Sonny Software made it possible to do this with Bookends, which is very convenient. One sets the location of custom folders in its Preference file.

Updated advice on equations and equation numbering
It has been some time since these matters were discussed on the Forum. What are the most effective methods people have found for using equations in Mellel, preferably to include automated equation numbering? In the past, I have used MathType and have entered numbers manually (without automation). I ...

Table Styles?
Unless I have missed it, Mellel does not have personalized Table Styles. It would be convenient if one could define table styles and insert them. As a crude substitute, I have created a separate file with tables having 2, 3, and 4 columns, with the cells all in the desired text format and with my pr...

Re: How Mellel has failed me
I do not have solutions to all the problems mentioned, but some things I have done may resolve SOME of them: Be sure that all images (including equations) are (1) entered as .pngs, (2) in the format of in-line, and (3) with the wrap button clicked. This is not the default. The PNG files are much sma...

Re: A clarification regarding Mellel 4.0.3 and "Diamond styles"
I agree with earlier posts (need a nice search feature). However, the problem is larger. The diamonds are very disconcerting. Eyal nicely points out that we could just ignore them and get on with life, but for some of us (I suspect many of those who are obsessive enough to use Mellel rather than the...

Endnotes to Footnotes and Vice Versa
Is there an easy way to change all endnotes to footnotes, or vice versa, as can occur if the journal for a manuscript turns out to want the opposite convention of the original manuscript? It is easy enough to redefine the existing footnote or endnote style so that it looks like the other, but--in my...

Re: A call for tables
Another table problem. If one selects the table's text and equalizes the columns, the result may have rows with highly varied gaps at the bottom. One must then move each row upward manually. Shouldn't the default set the row height to be what is necessary to show all text in the row's deepest cell?
