Mellel 2.3 requires at least Mac OS 10.3 and even the slowest Mac, that could run OS 10.3 (the 233 MHz iMac I guess) is fast enough to render formatted text properly (but maybe not really fast), so this shouldn’t be an issue, but as mentioned above, a independent view (i wouldn’t call it “plain” te...

Well one thing this Nisus thing is doing very well compared to Mellel is tables.... Much much quicker and you can use real navigation to go to different rows, etc. I have noticed that table-handling is getting extremely slow in Mellel (with big tables - say 8x20), but in Word or Nisus they work lik...

Re: cross-references: glad to wait for a quality implementat

Mellel addresses all my needs wonderfully--except for a lack of cross references. My impression is that cross-references are coming, and that they will be ready when they are ready, consistent with the quality of software delivered by this company. I can tell you that they are already in the works ...

I suppose the gist of this is: don't buy something for what you want it to do in the future, purchase it for what you can do with it right now. Agree. I certainly want both index, cross reference and text flow around images, but I will survive until Mellel has all these features (and hopefully surv...

My guess is that this happened by pressing delete while in the outline. This causes the selected section to be deleted and there is no "Are you sure?" dialog. I wonder if we could have a preference to turn on a confirmation dialogue for deletions from the outline. With undo in its current...

If you have activated the auto backup, you would be able to recover your deleted text. Have a look at ~/Library/Application Support/Mellel/Backup

Re: New Bibliography Features (bug?)

Hi, First, thanks for adding better bib support. I'm actually using Mellel to write a paper now it has "unscan". There appears to be a small bug however. Here is the behaviour I am seeing. I scan the document producing the formatted references and bibliography. I double-click on a referen...

Re: Internal Server Error

Help!!! I can't post here. I keep getting this error when I try to post anything more complicated than one-paragraph messages. What's wrong with this forum? Have anyone else experienced this? Nope, not as far as I know anyway. It seems to be working writing both one or two paragraph messages. Maybe...

Re: Speaking of upgrading...

I just paid my $19 or whatever to upgrade (having been using Mellel since 2004, I guess), and I was interested to know how much Mellel I just bought. Do I get another three years for $19? I believe - if I'm not totally mistaken - that any kind of purchase of Mellel (upgrade or not) nowadays gives y...

Maybe we should look at it a different way. If I hit Open Apple S, then that means Save to Disk as if it were there to stay, never to be undone again. Then clearing the Undo Buffer frees up memory so that other tasks can use it. I prefer features like Unlimited Undos as in NWE. I do not want to cho...

Re: No need to vote

I don't think there's much point in voting over something that's in essence a bug to be fixed. I didn't know it was a bug. Not since neither Nisus, Abiword, Openoffice nor Microsoft manage to count all the words, paragraphs and characters the same way. Just thought it was a lack of feature or an od...

That's true, but I do not recall that there has ever been a poll regarding this issue (please correct me if I'm wrong).
